The centre driveshaft carries all drive torque from the transmission to the front differential, so it is one of the most heavily loaded parts in the truck. Aluminum resists the twisting deflection that a composite shaft shows under 4s power that deflection is felt as a slight delay between throttle and drive, and it worsens as the shaft fatigues.
